Learning new technology is an endless opportunity to leverage client relations and provide audiences with content relevant to them today. As PR professionals, you are challenged by your clients to provide a more robust presence online, using a large selection of tools. What tools work best to benefit your client and you? We’ll discuss some of these options and present some alternatives you might not have considered. What a great time to be in the field of PR.

Randy Piland is a 30-year photojournalism veteran who teaches photojournalism, publication design and

interactive media. He has been on the faculty at Elon University since the fall of 2005. Beyond the classroom he serves as the Faculty Fellow for Technology for the university. He is also an iPad trainer who researches methods for use of the mobile unit so communications faculty can better use it for teaching and learning. He is a co-founder of the Elon Tablet Users Group on campus, which meets monthly to share new discoveries regarding mobile technology. Each Winter term Randy takes a group of grad students to Panama where they gather content and develop an interactive project for a NGO. The inaugural class placed second in the annual Broadcast Educators Association student Interactive Multimedia contest for their work with an Osteogenesis Imperfecta foundation.
